With my team I’m working on the next generation of Finetune’s hybrid AI/human tools. Our apps are used by The College Board, Fortune 500 companies, and K-12 school districts.

I created this pastebin in 2006 for fellow early-adopter Django coders. The “Share this traceback” button in Django’s debugging interface submits here, as does iPython/Jupyter’s %pastebin command.

There’s an HTTP API, with usage examples in Python, JavaScript, Go, Rust, and more.

I enjoy teaching and public speaking — sharing what I do, and talking with people who want to learn.

I was Principal Software Engineer on the team building and maintaining this system — the backbone of MassChallenge’s startup accelerator programs around the world.

The platform coordinates thousands of people and companies throughout the MassChallenge accelerator process — registration, applications, judging, scheduling, and cash awards.

The web/mobile publishing platform I helped build over four years at Cox Media Group served tens of millions of pages per day, and was a growing source of revenue for this $1.5B national media company.

The platform was used by all of CMG’s newspaper, radio, and TV properties — about 100 sites in markets all across the United States.

In my five-year stint as Director of Software Development at this photography/business school, I built web and database applications supporting admissions, equipment loan, alumni networking, grading, and more.

Fintech startup Routable provides a business payment platform for companies of all sizes. As a Principal Software Engineer I helped lead a major change to the internals of the platform, aimed at making it a more appealing choice for enterprise customers.

This cloud-based communications provider with 50,000 users hired me as a Senior Software Engineer to help transform their customer-facing admin application — gradually replacing a Perl monolith with serverless Python and React.

I co-wrote one of the first books on the Django web framework.

I was Lead Backend Engineer on Tactiq’s “Pipeline” product, a communication channel connecting over 40,000 retailers to their distributors and manufacturers. My work directly supported operations at national chains like CVS, Dollar General, and Circle K.

For several years I ran my own small agency, E-Scribe New Media, focusing on web and database development for regional and national clients.

Over 130 of the top 200 US accounting firms use LCvista’s software for learning management and compliance tracking. As Senior Software Engineer I collaborated with product owners and my engineering team to improve and expand the product.

I was Senior Developer on the team building and maintaining this translation services portal for the largest translation services company in the world.

The comprehensive API we built with Django REST Framework generated revenue by enabling integration with customers’ enterprise content management systems.
